Research Summary
My research focuses on (1) The development and implementation of high-throughput/high-content screening assays for the discovery of small molecules that influence the quaternary structure of the HIV-1 Nef virulence factor. (2) Executing the confirmatory and secondary (functional) assays required to validate potential inhibitors identified from the primary screening process. Testing includes monitoring levels of HIV replication, infectivity, receptor downregulation and key protein-protein interactions.
Following his graduation, Jerrod received an offer to work under his mentor, Dr. Tom Smithgall, as a Postdoctoral Associate.
