Areas of Interest
Defining HSV latency gene elements sufficient to sustain long-term transgene expression from HSV replication-defective vectors. Furthermore, by replacing latency promoter elements with neuronal promoter elements, I will attempt to target transgene expression to specific sensory neuron subpopulations.
Why I Chose Pitt
The University of Pittsburgh along with UPMC offers a wide range of research and clinical opportunities. Given my hope to strike some balance in my career between research and clinical work, the intimate integration of science and medicine here was very appealing.
